Zama Dexter:  Retrospective & New Works, 2009 Tthe opening recpetion for the "Retrospective & New Works" exhibit by Shreveport artist Zama Blanchard Dexter was held on May 17, 2009. The exhibit included new paintings, as well as an assemblage of past works from various private and museum collections. See more photos of this reception at Flickr. 

John James Audubon Exhibit, 2009 Guests enjoy the opening reception for the John James Audubon Exhibit, Feb. 2, 2009.

Danny Heitman, author of Summer of Birds, poses with Nita Cole, LSEM curator, during the opening reception for the Audubon Exhibit. Mr. Heitman keynoted the opening with an address in the Museum auditorium. Later in the year, Louisiana Public Broadcasting aired a 30-minute documentary about Summer of Birds and Audubon’s time spent in Louisiana.
