The Purse and the Person:
A Century of Women’s Purses
Dioramas, exhibits, collections, gardens and tours. The Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, except for holidays, special hours during the Louisiana State Fair, and weather closings.
Feb. 3—Throughout the month: Black History Month displays, including "Clementine and the Thornton Sisters: A Love Affair with Art," in the display cases
Feb. 3—Louisiana Department of Natural Resources meeting, auditorium, 8 a.m.
Feb. 7—Cindy's School of Dance, 3 p.m.
Feb. 10—Event, auditorium reserved, 8 a.m.

Feb. 13—Alpha Kappa Alpha, 8 a.m.
Feb. 14-April 18— "The Purse and the Person: A Century of Women's Purses" —Opening Reception February 14, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. This is a traveling exhibit of designer and vintage handbags.
Feb. 16—Museum closed for state Mardi Gras holiday

April 4-25—History of LSU Architecture, 32 panels and related artifacts illustrating the development of the campus in Baton Rouge. Reception April 11 with Secretary of State Jay Dardenne
May 2-June 27—"MY PEOPLE: The Portraits of Neil Johnson," a retrospective photography exhibit of the work of Shreveporter Neil Johnson; Opening reception May 4
May 4—Opening reception for "MY PEOPLE: The Portraits of Neil Johnson," 2 p.m.
